Description: Held in Austin for the last time, X Games 2016 was the place to be this weekend holding competitions, concerts, and vendors galore. The location was a beautiful widespread area with grass field, concrete pathways, a pond, large stands and a track. The games consisted of BMX, Motocross, and Skateboarding which were held in competitions such as Skateboard Park, BMX Vert, or Motocross Freestyle, etc…After a day of watching the events, the lineup consisted of G-Eazy, Logic, Blink 182, and All Time Low.Unfortunately, Friday got rained out so only Saturday’s artists performed (Blink 182 and All Time Low). To top it off, multiple art, food, or promotional vendors graced the grounds. Torchy’s Playground, Monster House, Bud Light bar just to name a few.

For GA, security was pretty standard. They checked your bag very briefly. For Backstage (Press, Athlete, VIP) there was security checking each door which they were pretty lax about in the beginning and got tighter towards the end.

There were plenty of bathrooms for Backstage. Always stocked and cleaned. For General Admission, bathrooms were well stocked and relatively clean as well.

Parking wasn’t bad. As all events are though, there were many cars trying to exit the same way. You could pay for parking which was $20, but there was also payed parking off the premises that took a shuttle to X Games.

What can they improve?

Here’s the thing. I enjoyed the benefits of the Media room (free food till 3, free water, free juice, free monster, etc) but there is so much regulation on what you can and can’t do with a camera. If you don’t have a DSLR camera, you’re shit out of luck. Why are selfie sticks banned? They say it’s a safety issue, but as long as it’s not hurting someone else, I believe you should be able to use them. Apparently, the media room/benefits were jipped compared to last year on account of ESPN and COTA having issues with each other. I hope next X Games brings a better event next year.
